Review of “Non-Stop”

This movie was a rush… a Premium Rush. Except for this was far better than that movie. Seriously, I haven’t been on the edge of my seat for any movie in my entire life before Non-Stop (this is the part where you say “good enough for me” and buy a ticket).NST_31_5_Promo_4C_4F.indd

Non-Stop stars Liam Neeson as Air Marshal Bill Marks, alongside a supporting cast of smaller actors and actresses who no one knows the name of (besides Julianne Moore). Instead of garbling on about the performances and the ambiance and all of that other cliche` review nonsense, I’m going to cut right to the chase:

-The acting is superb. Liam is superb. I actually cared about characters and their survival, for a change.
-Ambiance is tense as all hell. I’ve never felt truly tense in a movie before, but this one made me want to borrow someone’s inhaler.
-The fun of an A-grade thriller plus a little *spoiler* and *spoilering* near the *spoiler*. =D
-The run time is perfect. Absolutely perfect. It didn’t feel too compressed, and didn’t feel stretched out whatsoever.
-THE LAST FIFTEEN MINUTES. I’m actually kind of scared to step foot on a plane again, even though I tend to like them.

-For a budget of fifty million, the CGI plane sequences near the end feel downright amateurish.

Normally I hate it when reviewers go “ooh it feeds upon 9/11 hysteria” (some tool at The New York Times actually said that about Iron Man 3, if can you believe it. Seriously, fuck that guy) but this movie actually managed to make me feel the fear; tangible, unadulterated fear. Non-Stop is a movie that feeds upon American fears so well that obviously it could only have been made by the French (which it was). So, in conclusion, go see Non-Stop if you are in the mood for a great thriller, great Liam Neeson film, or want to acquire pteromerhanophobia. Non-Stop gets an official Gamerrob 5 out of 5 stars.
