My review of Child of Eden. Enjoy!
Story: In the future, Eden is a massive computer program that has been developed by humans to store all knowledge of civilization. This massive archive has now been corrupted due to the attempted reanimation of a girl named Lumi within the system, and it’s your job to purify Eden and save Lumi from impending doom.
Sound: Phenomenal music which really sets the weird, groovy mood this game has. Sound: 10/10
Presentation: This is probably the most visually impressive game I’ve ever seen, being a colorful festival of neon lights and bursts. The graphics are slick and characters seem to float across the screen. Presentation: 10/10
Gameplay: Child of Eden provides an extremely fun on-rails shooter experience, which consists mainly of blasting anything in sight. With Kinect, arm movement controls the firing of your guns and this is fun for the most part because the sensor does an excellent job tracking you, but flailing your arms gets a little repetitive after a while. I’m happy to say that the game does offer the ability to play with a controller, my only minor gripe being that the reticule moves slower than on the Kinect in this case. With either controller option, there will still be a few problems. First, it’s hard to see enemy attacks amongst the scenery because the vibrant colors are changing so rapidly. Secondly, if you die you have to restart the whole level. Other than those two things, this game offers a crazy, feel-good experience with its wacky gameplay. Overall: 8.5/10
Length: An extremely short adventure, maxing out at about two hours. Of course, you can replay the game to collect items, but when it boils down to it this is just a really short game. Length: 3/10
Overall: This game gets a 7.9/10! An interesting title that feels different from any other, because it enters you into a ridiculously colorful and fun atmosphere that no other game can.
