Civilization 5: Polynesia DLC Review

This’ll be a review of the Polynesia Scenario and Map DLC for Civilization 5.

Sound: This DLC includes musical selections that fit the Polynesian theme very well. The music itself is well-composed and fun to listen to.  Sound: 8.5/10

Presentation: The same as any other part of Civilization 5. The usual hexagonal grids, characters and the like. The new character Kamehameha has a very Polynesian-feel to him, which is good. Presentation: 8/10

Gameplay: The gameplay is okay, but since it’s primarily focused on culture the variety of things to do is limited. And the new map you play on has you exploring an almost-empty ocean for hours on end, until you finally meet another civilization.  Overall, it still has a Civilization feel to it, although a lot more tedious exploring and cultural focus is required to enjoy this Scenario and Map DLC. Gameplay: 6/10

Multiplayer: N/A

Length: It lasted about two and a half hours for me. And since there weren’t any exciting moments, it wasn’t a quality two and a half hours, either. Length: 4/10

Overall: This DLC gets a 6.6/10. Not a very good addition to Civilization 5, but it’s okay for a couple of hours.
