New Super Mario Bros. for Wii is a pretty fun game in general, but is it worth the $50 price tag? Read on to find out!
Sound: The music and sound effects are mostly from previous games, with only a handful of new tunes to be heard. Sound: 6.5/10
Presentation: The game looks surprisingly good, when it comes to Wii games. The visuals are clean and crisp, and the colorful environments are entertaining. Presentation: 9.5/10
Gameplay: Seriously fun gameplay! Between bouncing off giant mushrooms to defeating a size-enhanced Bowser at the very end, there’s always fun and challenge to be had with every level. The controls are precise and solid, as well. Gameplay: 9.5/10
Multiplayer: This game delivers a fun multiplayer experience, although aside from coin-battles, you can’t really do much else cooperatively except play through the single-player levels. I do have one major gripe with multiplayer though, and that is how whenever you move into another player on-screen, you don’t pass by them, you bump into or bounce on them, which can be very frustrating in areas with close-quarter platforming. Multiplayer: 7.5/10Length: This game’s story mode keeps you occupied for a good nine hours or so, and then there’s the additional challenge of finding all the Star Coins and secret exits through levels. The downside is that once you complete all of this you only get “Thanks for playing” as the reward. Length: 8/10
Overall: This game gets an 8.4/10! A good game that is definitely worth playing, but not the best Wii title out there.
